Plateau Problems? Power through with Personal Training

My mantra for this week, the end of the 1st month!

I have found the missing link! The answer to my "plateau problem": weight training! Last week was the first time in 15 years that I did weight training 5 days in a row. It is absolutely amazing to me the difference that it makes, not only to my fitness, but to my overall perception of myself.

Having a Personal Trainer is huge! I think everyone who is undertaking a weight loss journey should find a way to set up at least three sessions to begin a program, and 30 min. is plenty of time to gain the information necessary for creating a successful plan. Miramont offers great ways to keep training services more affordable, check out your local fitness center to see if they similar options.

I am suggesting three 30 min. sessions because that is how many times I have met with my personal trainer Ethan. I think it took until our 3rd week meeting for things to really click. It certainly took three weeks for my strength to build to the point for me not to be really sore, and to be able to increase either weight or repetition. Ethan said I should be doing that every time I train, and I think that I will be able to from this point.

I am not saying that you can't do it on your own. You absolutely can. I just think it is so much better with help. A trainer is going to push you harder than you will push yourself, and show you that you can do more than you ever thought possible. Doing the impossible is awesome! The confidence you gain is worth the extra cost, as are the results you will see in the mirror. (I admit it, I have been flexing in the mirror. Cheesy I know, but my triceps are looking good!)

If personal training just isn't in the budget I urge you to look for a small group training. I have been taking one of these classes twice a week, and it is equally amazing. These classes are bigger than a buddy session you split with a trainer, but smaller than the fitness classes available to everyone. I enjoy the comradery of the class and it changes every time so it is great for counteracting boredom. I also have to think that the change up is good for muscle confusion.

We have our second weigh in of the competition this coming Saturday and I am aiming high! Originally I set my goal to lose 15  lbs this month, but that just isn't going to happen and it's okay. It was a mighty goal. I would like to get as close to 149 as possible. I started at 160, a week ago I was 155.5 so we shall see. Ethan upped my calorie burn per day to 1,000 and I had only been aiming for 500 previously.  I will be adding in extra cardio with intense interval training. This is going to be tough to hit. My workout today was 83 min. and I had Ethan for 30 min. My muscles are truly fatigues and I still need to do another intense cardio session because I only burned 600 calories. I just remind myself that it isn't going to be easy, but is totally worth it!
