Going, going... Gone (and Goofy for good!)

Three Goofy runners the night before it all began.


 The morning of the first race was so cold! I couldn't feel my hands and we were at the start by 3:30 am. I was shivering until we actually started at 6:15 am. Winter racing is unpredictable, even in Florida!

 We did it! We all finished! It may have taken me longer, but I didn't quit!
The medal have to be this pretty to convince people to run 39.3 miles!

Here is my story... I was fit for the first 23 years of my life. I weighed 120 lbs from 8th grade through college graduation (I am 5'4"). I played sports through high school and even studied Exercise and Sports Science in College. I feel like I have no excuse, but I ended up overweight, "obese". I had been diligent throughout my early life to not follow in my family history footsteps. My grandmother was morbidly obese and passed away too early from congestive heart failure and complications of diabetes. My mother has struggled with weight most of her life as well. Dare to Lose Participant Bio

I have been accepted as one of six finalists for a  three month weight loss competition in my community. It is a partnership between Town Square Media, Inc. and Miramont Lifestyle Fitness. I feel absolutely blessed to have been chosen, and I intend to make the most of this amazing opportunity. This post is an effort to satisfy the participant biography component. We will be judged by three factors: 40% will be based on body fat lost, 30% will be change in waist to hip ratio, and 30% for percentage of total weight lost. The top three will win: 1st place 1 year premier membership, 2nd place 6 mos. premier membership, and 3rd place 3 mos. premier membership. The other three hopefully walk away with a new perspective and a healthier mind and body. The way I see it, it's a win-win situation. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Standing on the Precipice Dare to Lose kickoff ! Standing at the precipice of change. I participated in the kick off for Dare to Lose this past weekend and got to meet my fellow competitors. It was nice to see that we all had different goals, needs and age ranges. We have been split into two teams: North ( 2 females 1 male) and South (1 female 2 males). I am on the south team, and we will be competing both individually and as a team. I really like my team, but also really like the other women in the competition.  Saturday morning began with me meeting my trainer: Ethan. I have full confidence that he is going to pull every ounce of will out of me, and shape me into my strongest and healthiest version possible. I may need to buy stock in Advil before this is all over, but it will be worth it. Anyway, I met him and had my Fitness Evaluation done.
